How Much Did SMTOWN LIVE in TOKYO Earn?

On January 25 and 26, 2011, “SM TOWN” had their world tour at Tokyo’s National Yoyogi Stadium.

-some parts are omitted-

A person close to SM Entertainment stated that in ticket sales alone for these 2 performances, SM has potentially earned around 300 million yen (~3.6 million USD). The price of the tickets were 12,800 yen (~154 USD) and all 12,000 seats were sold out during each performance. The shirts, clothing, albums and character goods are also expected to have sold well.

They claim these performances were a “preliminary performance” to April’s Tokyo Dome performances. Simply, just in ticket sales for the Tokyo Dome performance, 100,000 people should attend and that would make SM earn more than 1 billion yen (~12 million USD).

Leeteuk is praised for his singing ability

On the 23rd’s episode of “Enjoy Today,” the cast of the show had a ballad audition. There were four judges, including Wheesung and K.Will.

Leeteuk was one of the contestants, and he sung Lim Changjung’s “You, Who’s Like Me.” The song had a lot of high climaxes, and he was able to hit all of the notes well. However, while the judges acknowledged that he had a very steady voice, they noted that he was unable to prepare for the climax of the song by building up emotion. They credited this to him being part of such a large group where he sung only a small portion of the song.

Leeteuk confessed that before he debuted, his dream was to become a singer who was recognized for his ability to sing. However, as he debuted in Super Junior, he was pushed down by the other greatly talented singers in his group, and he found himself neglecting his dream more and more. He waited nervously for his result, and he ended up with 35 out of 40, which was the 1st place for the night.

After Leeteuk left in glee, K.Will expressed that he was so shocked that Leeteuk was able to sing so well, and Wheesung talked about how proud he was of Leeteuk because they’d known each other for a while, and he was confident of Leeteuk’s abilities. He also talked about how hard Leeteuk worked every day to fulfill his dream.

After the show aired, Leeteuk tweeted, “Wheesung hyung, thanks.. ㅜㅜ Like you said, I won’t throw my dream away.. ^^ Phew.. Thanks so much ㅠㅠ”
